Volunteers are essential to the services we offer, and we are always grateful to those individuals who donate their time to be part of the solution.
Our volunteers are made up of not only individuals, but also business, community and church groups. Training is provided.

We are currently in need of Sexual Assault volunteers!
We could use your help in many areas, whether you want to volunteer as an individual or as a group. There are three different types of volunteers:
1. Volunteers-works directly with survivors
2. Interns
3. Indirect Volunteers-interest are more toward helping the agency rather than working directly with survivors
The different programs include sexual assault volunteer, peer advocacy volunteer, community outreach volunteer,sexual assault intern, legal advocacy intern, community outreach intern, and indirect services volunteer.
Volunteer Opportunities
Sexual Assault Volunteers
(Warrick or Vanderburgh)
- Provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, legal options, and support to rape and sexual assault victims, their families and friends in Vanderburgh or Warrick county (Volunteers may choose which county they would like to be a volunteer in).
- Provide support on an on-call basis by telephone or in person at Albion, hospital emergency rooms or law enforcement agencies. Pagers are available
- Commitment of 32 hours per month. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday, 4 p.m. – 8 a.m., and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. Each shift lasts for eight hours.
- Approximately 18 hours of training is required.
Peer Advocacy Volunteers
- Provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, and support to victims of domestic violence in Vanderburgh County.
- Provide support on an on-call basis by telephone or in person at Albion, Evansville Hospitals, medical facilities or law enforcement agencies. Pagers are available.
- Commitment of 32 hours per month. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday 4p.m. to 8 a.m., and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday.
- Volunteer advocates must live in Indiana and no more than 25 minutes from Evansville.
- Approximately 18 hours of training is required, including a ride-along with the Evansville Police Department.
Community Outreach Volunteers
- Volunteers may complete on or several of the following activities in Crawford Dubois, Gibson, Harrison, Orange, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick Counties.
- Provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, and support to victims of domestic violence.
- Co-Facilitate women’s and children’s support groups.
- Distribute posters and pamphlets throughout our service area.
- Assist staff members in educational presentations in schools or other community organizations.
- Provide transportation to shelter and support groups for victims in counties outside Vanderburgh County.
- Volunteers are needed during the day and evening hours on weekdays and weekends.
- Training hours vary according to activity.
Sexual Assault Intern
- Provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, and support to victims of rape and sexual assault.
- Attend necessary training and committee meetings when possible.
- Provide legal advocacy to victims of sexual assault and rape.
- Assist staff members with educational presentations to schools or community organizations.
- Co-facilitate Adult Sexual Survivors support group.
Legal Advocacy Intern
- Provide emotional support and advocacy to victims of domestic violence pursuing criminal or civil charges against their abusers.
- Attend necessary training and committee meetings when possible.
- Assist victims of domestic violence in completing and filing protective orders, police reports, and violent crime compensation claims.
- Maintain records and document services rendered.
Community Outreach Intern
- Provide crisis counseling, information, referrals, and support to victims of domestic violence.
- Attend necessary training and committee meetings when possible.
- Provide legal advocacy to domestic violence victims outside of Vanderburgh county.
- Co-facilitate domestic violence support group.
- Assist staff members with educational presentations to schools or community organizations.
Indirect Services Volunteer

Volunteers may complete one or serveral of the following activities:
- Assist with special events and fundraisers (Take Back the Night, Volleyball Tournament, etc.)
- Assist with secretarial support services.
- Assist in Shelter Program.
- Complete light housekeeping, minor repairs, and shopping.
- Distribute and promote agency information at Community events.
