Trauma-Informed Care
Statistics on abuse and violence within the United States are sobering.
- 1 individual experiences rape every 98 seconds
- 20 individuals experience physical abuse by an intimate partner every minute
- 1 in 4 women & 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence
- 1 in four children experiences some type of physical, sexual, or emotional maltreatment
Trauma-Informed Care informs our agency and allows our staff to understand, recognize, and respond to different forms of trauma and the effects that they may have. It also informs how we can emphasize physical, psychological, and emotional safety for those we serve, allowing us to empower as individuals regain a sense of control.
